Intimate Partner Violence has remained behind closed doors for too long. Isolation, privacy and stigma are what give it tremendous power. For this reason, Women’s Center & Shelter has launched The Challenge, an annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month Campaign, that utilizes social media to bring viewers face to face with intimate partner violence survivors, witnesses and perpetrators.
Women's Center & Shelter is challenging community members to help themselves, help a friend or help the cause. Throughout October, a multi-channel awareness campaign, including radio, television, print, email and social media, will encourage community members to Text to Give and visit www.wcscanhelp.org/challenge to learn how to help.
During the 2012 Challenge Campaign, you raised $30,650 dollars: $230 in Text2Give donations + $420 in Friends Asking Friends + $30,000 in sponsorships! This doesn't include the $38,840 you gave on the Pittsburgh Foundation Day of Giving.
This year we also introduced a new online fundraising component called Friends Asking Friends. We are excited to continue to use this platform. Friends Asking Friends, now named: In Your Name, will be available for any occasion, so please do not hesitate to create a fundraising page for special events of your own and allow friends and loved ones to donate in your name!
