Celebrating Survivors Sponsor Highlights
Thank you to our generous sponsors for Celebrating Survivors 2021!
UPMC Health Plan
UPMC Health Plan, the Celebrating Survivors Presenting Ambassador of Hope, has endlessly supported the WC&S mission in a variety of way over decades. From the very beginning when our spring event was called the Spring Clothes Out until today, UPMC Health Plan’s generosity and partnership has helped to empower thousands of survivors and their children to begin new lives, free from abuse.
As one of the founding members of STANDING FIRM, the business case for ending partner violence, UPMC Health Plan encourages other companies to join and responsibly support their employees who may be survivors of partner violence. We sincerely thank UPMC Health Plan for helping to spread the message of STANDING FIRM since its inception.
This year, we are honoring UPMC’s Raquel A. Buranosky, MD, MPH as the Ted Craig Humanitarian Award recipient. Dr. Raquel started a medical clinic at WC&S in 1996 and continues to dedicate her time to domestic violence survivors and other underserved people in the Pittsburgh area. When the clinic first began, Dr. Buranosky and her team of student volunteers found that many of the residents staying at WC&S’ Emergency Shelter were not having their health needs met because of the abuse they had suffered. The clinic continues to serve survivors in WC&S’ Emergency Shelter and connect them with physicians who are able to provide them with trauma-informed care on an ongoing basis.
WC&S is deeply grateful for the ongoing support and dedication from UPMC Health Plan and its employees who also serve WC&S through committee and board service. We hope to continue this meaningful partnership for years to come. Thank you for being such amazing community advocates for hope and healing.
This year’s Celebrating Survivors Children’s Ambassador, management + technology consulting firm Aspirant, use their time and talent to make real change in the lives of domestic violence survivors and their children, both as a company and through the efforts of individual employees.
Women’s Center & Shelter’s partnership with Pittsburgh-based Aspirant began back in 2014 with the development of the life-saving RUSafe app, now in its second version and available in three languages in all 50 states. Since that time, Aspirant has fully embraced WC&S through their Connection of Hope campaign, by serving meals to residents and children, participating in the annual Adopt-A-Family holiday giving program, hosting events on WC&S’ behalf, sponsoring WC&S events, and providing countless amounts of expertise in a wide variety of areas such as technology and human resources.
We are so thankful for the length and depth of Aspirant’s continued partnership and support. It is friends like you who make this work possible.
